On our journey in China we will start up in Beijing. From there we will travel with train to Hami, located in the Xinjiang province. On our way to Hami we will stop in Xi'an and Dunhuang. Just outside the small city of Hami, we will observe a total solar eclipse on the 1 August.

Then we will jump on a train to Turfan, the oasis in the middle of the desert, and continue to Kashgar which is located at the uttermost west. From Kashgar we will go to Karakul and into the Himalaya, more exactly Muztagh Ata (7546m). Maybe we will reach a base camp.

Now we will set the course south-east, to the capital of the naxi-people, namely Lijiang. We will eventually finish our china journey in Guangzhou.
